Carbo Stop
Product Introduction
Carbo Stop is a high-performance stop-off paint (protective coating) developed and produced by us for selective protection during gas carburizing and carbonitriding processes. It is the improved domestic equivalent of the well-known German product CONDURSAL 0090, offering superior quality, better adhesion, more reliable carbon-blocking performance, and easier residue removal.
Applications
Carbo Stop is applied to selected surfaces of steel components (unalloyed and alloyed steels) to prevent unwanted carbon absorption during heat treatment. It effectively protects against carbon pick-up for case depths up to approximately 1.3 mm (0.080–0.050 inches).
Typical uses include:
- Protecting threads, gear teeth, splines, keyways, and other critical areas that must remain soft for subsequent machining, assembly, or to avoid brittleness
- Selective carburizing of shafts, gears, transmission parts, and precision components
- Continuous heat-treatment lines and mass-production processes
After heat treatment, the residual coating is easily removed by washing in agitated hot water or an alkaline solution — no aggressive mechanical cleaning is required.
